Barbados’ largest agricultural show, Agrofest, will be opening its doors from 22nd-24th February 2019.

The popular outdoor event, which features over 350 exhibits, regularly attracts over 60,000 local and international patrons every year. Some of the most popular sections include an exotic bird exhibit; petting zoo; children’s entertainment area; and art craft village.

This year’s theme, ‘Full We Pocket, Eat Local’, is part of an ongoing initiative by the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) to encourage the public to buy more homegrown food.

Agrofest is produced by the BAS in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and takes place in Queens Park, Bridgetown. The BAS says the large-scale event provides Barbadians with an opportunity to “experience all the facets of Barbados’ agricultural sector”.

Some of the other objectives of the exhibition are:

– To demonstrate the symbiotic relationship between agriculture and the community.

– To portray agriculture in a fun and interesting way.

– To demonstrate the agricultural career opportunities for young people.

Agrofest’s gates open from 10am-9pm on Friday and Saturday and 8am-9pm on Sunday. Tickets are available from various box offices across the island or at the gate.
