Every Friday since May this year, the Pelican Craft Centre has been showcasing the best of Barbadian culture at its ‘Festive Fridays’ event.

If you haven’t made it down to Pelican for a fun-filled Friday yet, don’t worry, the ‘ultimate after work lime’ will be going until the end of the year.

Here’s what you can expect if you go along.

Place: Pelican Craft Centre, Princess Alice Highway, St Michael

Time: 4pm until Midnight

Cost: Free

Dates: 17 May 2019 – until the end of the year

What’s happening? Every Friday evening, Pelican Craft Centre gets the weekend started in style with an open-air event, featuring live music and dancing.

The Bridgetown Night Market has stalls selling local Bajan specialities like breadfruit bowls and fish cutters (sandwiches). There’s mixology demonstrations, cocktail sampling, and drinks specials.

The ‘Riddim Route Street Parade’ is also part of the entertainment during Crop Over season.

The parade, from 7pm-10pm at Trevor’s Way, includes members of the public in a ‘mini jump-up.’ Participants are given powder, and a musical instrument, as a conga line weaves its way through the environs of the centre. Everyone who takes part receives a free snow cone.

So far, the Festive Friday events have been well attended by tourists and locals and received rave reviews.

Thank God It’s Friday!
