It goes without saying that food has to be one of the biggest considerations when selecting a restaurant. There’s no point booking a table at the best seafood eatery in town when one person in your party is allergic to fish!

You could approach this issue by asking everyone attending for a main food preference, or you could choose a restaurant that has several choices on offer, including vegetarian and vegan dishes as well as a varied children’s menu.

Just make sure that any dietary requirements, especially allergy information, is relayed to the restaurant beforehand. Most establishments should be happy to offer dairy or gluten-free alternatives but checking in advance will keep everyone happy.

Budget

If you have time, you could even check out the restaurant before booking a table. Pop by for a drink and scope out the place and the people. You should also use the washroom as this gives a good indication of hygiene standards!

Location

We all know how essential location is when buying a house, and it’s just as important when selecting a restaurant. 

Do you want a view of the beach and the sea? Do you want beautiful architecture and a historic setting? Do you want seclusion, quiet, and romance, or vibrancy with live entertainment? Do you want modern decor or a more classic approach?

Factor in whether the restaurant you’re booking is easy to reach for everyone coming, as well as practical considerations, such as parking and wheelchair accessibility. A rooftop restaurant offers spectacle views but may not be the best option if one of the guests has mobility issues. 

Obviously, you won’t be able to please everyone but some careful thought about location will make the evening even more enjoyable.
