Hockey teams from the UK, Europe, the US, South America and the Caribbean will be competing for honours in August at Barbados’ 34th annual international hockey festival.

All the action will be held on the synthetic hockey turf at the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, Wildey from 18-24 August.

Teams of men, women, mixed sides and masters (aged 35 and over), will contest the daytime outdoor competition under the patronage of the Barbados Hockey Federation.

Last year’s winners included men’s team ‘Du Badd’ from Barbados, local women’s side ‘A Badd Connection’ and ‘Y’s Guys’ who took the trophy in the veteran’s event.

The festival begins with an opening parade on Sunday 18 August before the hockey games start from Monday.

The semi-finals are played on Friday 23 August, and the finals take place on Saturday 24 August followed by a prize-giving ceremony and closing night party.

Off the field, the festival’s schedule includes a catamaran cruise around the island, talent night, karaoke, cultural activities, and a beach party.
