Lights, Camera, Action! The Barbados Independent Film Festival 2020

Local, regional and international creatives will get the chance to see their work on the big screen at the upcoming Barbados Independent Film Festival (BIFF) from 14-19 January 2020.

Alongside various screenings of independent films over five days, the festival will also feature meet and greet opportunities with stars and filmmakers; panel discussions with directors, writers and producers; masterclasses on screenwriting, acting, editing and producing and the BIFF awards.

The festival begins with a red-carpet gala at the Barbados Museum’s Walled Garden Theatre on Tuesday 14 January. Tickets cost $150 (BBD) and include food and premium drinks and the screening of the film ‘Joseph’ from local filmmaker Marcia Weekes.

Showing: The Truth About Marriage

Date: 16 January

Time: 6pm

Venue: Copacabana Beach Club

Double showing: Reggae Boyz / Cabarete

Date: 18 January

Time: 10am – noon

Venue: Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination

Details: Cuban filmmaker Gloria Rolando screens of one of her favourite films and answers questions from the public.

Date: 19 January

Time: 5.30pm

Venue: Southern Palms Hotel Beach

Details: BIFF Awards / Shorts on the beach / ‘Too Lickrish’ film screening

Tickets for most of the film screenings during the Barbados Independent Film Festival range from $10-$75 (BBD). There is also an all access pass for $400 (BBD).
