Even if your New Year’s resolution to get fitter has not gone to plan just yet, it’s never too late to start eating healthier and exercising.

Finding a gym where you feel comfortable and supported, can be good motivation to get fit especially if you are now starting out on your wellness journey.

Surfside Wellness Centre

Owned and managed by personal trainer, George Griffith, Surfside is one of the most established gyms on the island. It has two locations in Oistins and a newly opened, purpose-built facility on Brittons Cross Road. George also runs the Barbados Adventure Race.

First Fitness Gym and Training Centre

Located in Southern Plaza, Oistins, First Fitness is a state-of-the-art gym facility with daily, weekly, or monthly pass options which offer access to additional exercise classes. First Fitness also provides personal training services, nutritional advice, fitness and body assessments.

Exclusive Fitness Studio

Accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Exclusive Fitness Studio is based in the Dega Warehouse Complex, Lower Estate, St George. This facility provides various membership options starting from $155 per month with the option to add on personal training.

Frenchy’s Gym

Managed by personal trainer Francois Jones, Frenchy’s Gym is situated in Pine Gardens, St Michael. The gym is fully equipped with weights and cardio equipment and ideal for people looking for a smaller facility with one-on-one instruction. Francois also offers a morning bootcamp and boxercise classes.

Level Up Gym

Level Up Gym provides indoor and outdoor training facilities for members in the overflow carpark at the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre in Holetown, St James.

The ‘adult playground’ features rope climbs and is a great space for tyre flips and sled pushes. The gym also offers a wide range of classes and is open 24/7.

CrossFit 246

Founded in December 2012 by former national volleyball player Dr Janelle Mayers, CrossFit 246 is a gym facility that caters to young and old with a range of adaptable programmes. Janelle is also a mental health consultant and an advocate for taking care of yourself emotionally and physically.

Beyond Limits Fitness Centre

Beyond Limits has four gyms located in Sheraton Mall, Wildey, Cane Garden, and Hastings. Open to everyone “regardless of fitness level, shape, gender, or size”, members have 24/7 access, and several pass options at affordable prices. Beyond Limits also operates a Ninja Warrior After-School/ Vacation Camp for children.

J&S Fitness

Based in Holder’s Hill, St James, J&S Fitness is a modern gym offering cardio and weight training equipment for members, along with daily exercise classes including Pilates and spinning. Gym membership is $20 for one session, $70 for a week, and $125 for a month. Classes cost extra.

Club Fitness

Conveniently situated at The Villages, Coverley, Club Fitness has everything you could possibly want from a gym and more. Along with classes, and personal trainers, gym members can also access spa-quality massage therapy.
