A new generation of Barbadian photographers are producing innovative, and eye-catching work, which is getting them deserved attention on social media.

These young creatives are the future of their profession, and their growing body of work shows they are more than capable of producing a range of captivating and groundbreaking images.

Yello has pinpointed three local photographers who are set to make a name for themselves. We believe they have what it takes to succeed in a saturated field because they already stand out from the crowd.

Jaryd Niles-Morris

Barbadian photographer Jaryd Niles-Morris utilises his talent to create striking images which can be described as experimental, thought-provoking, and edgy.

Jaryd told Yello that he was always interested in art, but he only got into photography when he went to study at Barbados Community College (BCC). He left BCC without graduating, but quickly established a reputation as a bold creative and outside-the-box freelance photographer.

Jaryd is now pushing the boundaries of his art with a range of advertising campaigns for leading Caribbean brands.

Kristopher Streek showcases most of his work on Twitter and Instagram, where he has a combined following of over 5,300 people.

Some of Kristopher’s local clients include Banks Beer, Digicel, and Brunswick but he has also produced work for leading international companies such as Complex and Def Jam Recordings.

His work can be categorised as ethereal, crisp, and moody.

Kristopher is also a videographer and recently created a promotional campaign for the Nevis Tourism Authority.

Amleya Clarke

Barbadian entrepreneur Amleya Clarke told Yello that she initially lacked the confidence to pursue her dream to be a photographer. Instead, she chose to study law at the University of the West Indies.

However, while studying at the Cave Hill campus, Amleya realised that photography was her passion, and when she left university, she began freelancing for local studios.

She started her own business in 2014 and is known as a professional, versatile, and thoughtful image maker.

Amleya produces corporate, and brand photography, as well as portraits, and her work was also featured on the front cover of the 2020 mini Barbados phone directory.

These photographers are certainly rising stars on the island. We look forward to following their careers over the years and seeing what they do next.
