Sashes and Smiles: Meet the Miss Universe Barbados 2019 Delegates
by Karen Rollins Jun 19, 2019
Nine ladies received their Miss Universe Barbados (MUB) 2019 sashes at a glitzy media event held at the Hilton Barbados Resort.
The women will now begin intense training to get them ready for the crowning ceremony taking place on Saturday 7 September.
The delegates for this year’s pageant are Jeunessa Banfield, Shaunice Griffith, Hillary-Ann Williams, Jillisa Gibson, Shanel Ifill, Kristen Asha, Beviny Payne, Safiyyah Abdul-Razzak and Alexandra Ortiz (not pictured).
At the MUB boot camp, which begins on 20 June, they will learn various skills including public speaking and communication, personal branding and poise, and how to walk the runway.
Speaking at the sashing event Brian Green, MUB’s National Director, said a competitive open casting system resulted in the selection of the nine finalists.
He urged the delegates to make the most of the opportunity.
Brian added that the theme for this year’s event is #thefutureisfemale because “these ladies represent the future of Barbados.”
Hilton Barbados Resort, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, will host the glamourous coronation ceremony. Tracy Jones, Hilton’s Director of Sales and Marketing, said the delegates were at the start of a “life-changing process which will shape your progress as women.”
