St George will celebrate ‘The Land’ throughout the month of June as Barbados’ We Gatherin’ events continue across the country.
St George’s schedule of We Gatherin’ activities included a thanksgiving church service on 1 June at The St George Parish Church.
Throughout the rest of the month, St George will also hold a ‘Musical Maestros in Concert’ event at the parish church on 9 June from 6pm-10pm; a Farmers’ Market at St Jude Rectory from 10am to 5pm; a Father’s Day luncheon on 15 June from 12.30pm at St Augustine Anglican Church; and a Beer Fest on 27 June at the Glebe from 8pm.
A community ‘Parks and Gardens’ beautification competition will also run from 1-27 June and a month-long ‘Sports for Peace’ programme will feature football, cricket and netball games.
We Gatherin’ is a 52-week tourism campaign branded as an “all-inclusive Bajan homecoming”. All the island’s parishes are taking turns to hold special events, competitions, festivals, and concerts, aimed at bringing together Bajans from across the diaspora.
‘We Gatherin’ 2025’ will culminate with nationwide cultural events from 30 November to 31 December including a national cook-off highlighting Barbadian cuisine.
The parish hosting events in July is St Philip with the theme ‘Sugar’.
