Some of the world’s top surfers will be heading to Barbados at the end of March for the highly anticipated Barbados Surf Pro 2023 competition.

The premier event is on from 27 March to 2 April and will feature an array of top-class surf competitions, including men’s and women’s World Surfing League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) events, along with the fifth edition of the ‘Live Like Zander Junior Pro’ in memory of Barbadian Zander Venezia.

The exhilarating and action-packed event is expected to attract over 200 competitors including some of surfing’s brightest stars.

It is taking place at Bathsheba beach in St Joseph on Barbados’ east coast which is recognised as one of the world’s top surfing locations.

In a press release, chief executive officer at Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., Jens Thraenhart, noted that hosting the Barbados Surf Pro 2023 presents an exceptional opportunity for the island to showcase its inherent beauty, rich culture, and diverse offerings to a global audience.

Barbadian surfing sensation, Chelsea Tauch, previously told local media how excited she was to have the event on home soil. She said: “It’s huge for tourism and its huge for our surfers because not only is the world seeing our surfers and seeing our waves but our young surfers are seeing these international surfers, the best of the best from the region coming out and seeing our shores and surfing our waves and seeing how it’s done and it’s helped my career and I know it would help theirs.”

Surfing fans can expect an unforgettable week of competition that will generate an exciting atmosphere and provide a great opportunity to watch some high-level surfing action.
