Barbados’ We Gatherin’ 2020 event will reach St Peter in February after kicking off in St Lucy last month.

The year-long campaign, which is being labelled as an “all-inclusive Bajan homecoming,” was launched by the government on Independence Day in 2018 and is aimed at “Bajans by birth, Bajans by descent, Bajans by choice… and those who love Barbados.”

Throughout 2020, all of Barbados’ 11 parishes are taking turns to hold special events, festivals, seminars, sporting activities and concerts, aimed at uniting Barbadians at home and abroad.

Each parish has own theme to reflect the island’s life and culture – St Peter’s theme is heritage.

Some of the exciting events scheduled for February include:

1 February: Heritage Walk, starting at Speightstown Esplanade – 5am-8am.

2 February: Gatherin’ on De Hill, Farley Hill National Park.

5 February: Ideas Forum National Dialogue with Prime Minister Mia Mottley, Alexandra School – 7.30pm-9pm.

9 February: Opening of the ‘Roots and Branches’ Art Exhibition at the Gallery of Caribbean Art in Speightstown.

12 February: Movie Night featuring Barbadian Filmmaker Stockton Miller, Braddy’s Bar, Six Mens.

16-23 February: The annual Holetown Festival.

Visit the official We Gatherin’ Barbados 2020 website for more information on all the events in every parish.
