The biggest beach party in Barbados will get under way on 14 July when Pan Pun De Sand takes over Brandons Beach.

This annual event attracts thousands of people from across the island who come to hear national and regional artists and celebrate the importance of steel pan music in Caribbean culture.

This year the lineup includes the Antigua National Steel Symphony Orchestra, Len ‘Boogsie’ Sharpe and Phase 2, Liam Teague with a special tribute to Shadow and Ken ‘Professor’ Philmore.

There will also be a debut performance from the National Cultural Foundation’s (NCF) school’s pan project with over 60 students from schools across Barbados.

The event, which runs from 4pm to 10pm, will be free again for patrons thanks to the generosity of a “silent sponsor”, according to the NCF.

Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and umbrellas, as well as plenty of food and drink, to spend the day listening to festival music on one of the best beaches on the island.

Pan Pun De Sand is always one of the most eagerly anticipated parties during the Crop Over Season. This year it’s expected to be as good as ever and is sure to get you in the mood for Carnival!
