After the holidays, going back to work can be daunting.

Here are five helpful tips for settling back in seamlessly.

Start your mornings with a healthy breakfast

Charge your day for success with an energising breakfast. Green smoothies are a great way to pack in loads of nutrients. You can also opt for a vegetable packed omelette to give you protein alongside the vitamins from your peppers, onion, and spinach.

Schedule an hour for emails

Getting through an overflowing email inbox can be challenging. Be prepared for this by scheduling an hour early in the day to slowly work your way through emails. This way, you can get them out of the way before you start focusing on more pressing tasks.

Make a list of tasks and plan ahead

A comprehensive to-do list can help you to sort through post-vacation brain fog and stay on-track with upcoming tasks. Make a list from highest to lowest priority and check it throughout the day, so you don’t let anything slip.

Organise a lunch date

You probably spent a lot of time socialising over the holidays. Readjusting to a cubicle or individual work can be difficult after a month of family dinners and parties. Ease yourself back in by scheduling lunch with friends. This will inject a bit of social time into your workday to break up the monotony.

Be honest and compassionate with yourself

After a long vacation, you might not be very productive right off the bat. If you’re struggling to perform tasks that you usually find easy, don’t be too hard on yourself. Be prepared to struggle a little bit as you get back into the swing of things.  Be compassionate with yourself, and take appropriate breaks when you need them.

Getting back into work mode after a vacation can be a struggle, but these tips should help you go from holiday-haze to productive days.
