If you’re looking for eco-adventures, Bonaire is the island for you. Whether you’re a visitor or a local looking for new experiences, check out this list of five essential Bonaire activities.

Biking

With over 300 kilometres of paved and unpaved trails, Bonaire offers great cycling opportunities for mountain bikers or casual riders. Rent a bike or bring your own, then follow the blue rocks that serve as trail markers. If you’re not comfortable with navigating on your own, join a guided tour of Washington Slagbaai National Park, Rincon or Kralendijk.  For tours and bike rentals, contact:

Hiking

Go off the beaten path when exploring Bonaire by foot. Hiking offers beautiful island vistas, particularly in Washington Slagbaai National Park. Serene trails, like Lagadishi Walking Trail, are available for beginners, or there are more challenging climbs like Subi Brandaris Trail for experienced hikers. Find more information on trails at Explore Bonaire.

Landsailing

Bonaire may be known for blue waters, but you can also sail on land here. Zip around a closed-circuit race track of rugged, off-road trails with Bonaire Landsailing Adventures. Guests from eight to 108 are welcome so the whole family can participate in this safe, fun, and unique experience.

Caving

Join a certified guide to explore a few of the 400 caves in Bonaire’s network. Some even offer snorkelling opportunities in a combined salt and freshwater environment.

Rock Climbing

Despite the lack of mountains in Bonaire, the island has limestone cliffs that are perfect for rock climbing and rappelling. Climb up Brandaris Hill and enjoy panoramic views at the top, or try your hand at bouldering in Rappel or Karpata.

If you’re looking for an outdoor adrenaline rush, these experiences offer just that. Adventure and explore as you take in the natural beauty of Bonaire!
