Birthstone for November: Topaz and Citrine

A birthstone is associated with each month of the year. Various myths and legends refer to the birthstones’ healing powers and therapeutic effects. However, in modern times, it makes the selection, of jewellery much simpler when personalizing a gift.

For those born in November, there are two choices of birthstone – topaz and citrine.

Firstly, topaz available of shades of yellow, brown, honey, green, red and pink, plus popular blue tones, this gemstone is incredibly popular.

The ancient Romans and Egyptians associated this gemstone with the “sun god” believing it had the powers to heal and protect.

The rarest and most prized colour of topaz is called the Imperial Topaz, named after the Russian Czars in the 1800’s. This particular topaz features a magnificent deep orange colour with pink undertones.

Secondly, citrine, November’s other birthstone is known as the “healing quartz”. The warm colour of citrine is said to be a gift from the sun, supporting vitality and healthy while inspiring and guiding hope, energy and warmth within the wearer.

Aptly named citrine, which is French for “lemon”, the name reflects the colour range of lemon yellow to a bright orangey brown.

Nowadays citrine is one of the most popular and affordable gemstones, plus plentiful in supply.
