Hurricane Dorian has caused widespread devastation in The Bahamas, with The Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama being the hardest-hit areas.

Some parts of The Bahamas received as much as 35 inches of rainfall.

Bahamian Prime Minister, Hubert Minnis, described Dorian as “one of the greatest national crises in our country’s history.”

Caribbean people are always ready to help one another, and The Bahamas needs our help.

Yello is a Caribbean company and we’re ready to help. We have mobilised immediate relief efforts to support our partners in The Bahamas. Special focus has been placed on first providing 200 aid kits, 2,000 portable charging ports and 2,000 care packages to assist affected staff members and others impacted by Hurricane Dorian. Supplies will be distributed in partnership with BTC over the next few weeks and recovery grants will be provided to our affected team members.

So how can you help those trying to recover after the devastation of Hurricane Dorian?

Sandals Foundation

The charitable arm of Sandals Resorts, which operates a hotel in Nassau, has begun organising donations of both cash and kind.

You may mail donations of cleaning products, non-perishable foods, blankets, and first aid items to a Miami address and the Sandals Royal Hotel, Nassau. Monetary donations are also accepted. You’ll find all the necessary information on the Sandals Foundation website.

Food for the Poor

Food for the Poor has set up a donations page on their website to help those affected by Hurricane Dorian. You can easily make a financial donation using a credit card, chequing account or PayPal.

Itelbpo

Itelbpo, a Jamaican- owned business process outsourcer with a contact centre located in The Bahamas is organising donations. They have also made their own donations. You can contribute to their GoFundMe campaign or donate goods. Visit Itelbpo’s website for all the necessary details on how to donate and where you can mail useful items.

HeadKnowles is a non-profit Bahamian hurricane relief fund established back in 2015. The organisation provided relief operations during Hurricane Joaquin in 2015 and Hurricane Matthew in 2015. HeadKnowles has set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for Hurricane Dorian relief efforts. GoFundMe has listed HeadKnowles as a valid campaign, but always do your research before donating
