The British Virgin Islands isn’t short on beauty, but where should you go if you want to fill your Instagram page with enviable photos? We’ve got you. Here are six of the most Instagrammable places in BVI.
The Cathedral Room at The Baths, Virgin Gorda
The Baths on Virgin Gorda is one of BVI’s most popular tourist destinations, and with good reason. The Baths are a series of massive volcanic boulders rising from the turquoise sea forming a maze of pools and grottoes. Making your way through these mammoth rocks is an unforgettable experience with Instagram-worthy photos at every turn.
The ‘cathedral room’ is a crystal clear pool in a small cave formed by the formidable boulders, is the most photographed ‘room’ in The Baths.
Unless you’re one of the mega-rich, you won’t get an Instagram shot lounging around at the ultra-exclusive resort on Sir Richard Branson’s private Necker Island. You do have a chance, however, to get a better look (and some great photos) of the island’s wildlife. Gumption’s Nature Tours, led by a Virgin Gorda local, takes visitors to Necker Island to see the amazing animals that live there. From flamingos, giant tortoises, iguanas, parrots, to lemurs, Necker Island is home to a surprising array of wildlife. Selfie with a curious lemur anyone? These tours are small with 10 to 12 people and fill up quickly, so booking in advance is advised.
Sandy Spit is the perfect pretend you’re on your own private island snapping pictures of the white sand beach you’ve got all to yourself. The snowy sands surrounded by vivid blue waters are an excellent canvas for all sorts of beautiful Instagram pictures. There isn’t much shade on the island so come armed with sunscreen and a hat.
Full moon at Trellis Bay, Beef Island
Full moons are always a festive occasion at Trellis Bay on Beef Island. The huge fireballs lighting up the beach make for some amazing photos.
In a hammock on White Bay, Jost Van Dyke
Kick back in a hammock or on a beach chair at White Bay on Jost Van Dyke for the coolest, most enviable Insta-shot. While you’re there snap some photos of your painkiller at Soggy Dollar Bar. Soggy Dollar is one of the bars that claim to have created this uniquely BVI brew of coconut, pineapple, orange juice, and dark rum, topped with a little nutmeg.
Cane Garden Bay at Sunset
Sunsets along Tortola’s most popular beach area are beautiful. There are lots of things to do here as the day draws to a close and since cruise ship passengers will have gone, you won’t have to battle crowds. Crowd-free means even better photos.
So there you have it, six great places for Instagram-worthy photos in BVI!
