The Cayman Turtle Conservation and Education Centre (CTCEC) will host its annual Sea Turtle Festival from 16-18 June 2022. The multi-day schedule of events will celebrate all things related to sea turtle conservation and educational activities and a family fun day at the Centre.

On Thursday 16 June, the Centre will celebrate World Sea Turtle Day with a special turtle release at Governor’s Beach.

Geddes Hislop, Curator of Terrestrial Exhibits and Education Programs at CTCEC said: “Our annual World Sea Turtle Day release is always popular with residents and visitors alike. We are pleased to be able to open this event up to the public, with a limited number of spaces available for on-island guests that would like to join us for this special occasion.”

Tickets for the World Sea Turtle Day release are complimentary but advance online registration is required. Register online in advance at https://world-sea-turtle-day.eventbrite.com

On Friday 17 June, the Centre will host a ‘Green Friday’ sale at their Splash gift store, and an island-wide Green Dress Down Day to raise funds for sea turtle conservation. Participants are invited to make a donation of their choice at https://caymanturtles.ky/product/make-a-donation/ to support the Centre’s Green sea turtle conservation initiatives.

Natalie Porter, the Marketing Manager at the Centre shared, “We invite all local businesses, schools and individuals to take part in this fun initiative to help raise funds to support the Centre’s Green sea turtle conservation programmes. Taking part is simple – just dress in green on the day, share your photos on social media to show your support, and make your donation online or in person.”

On Saturday 18 June, families can enjoy an action-packed day out at the Centre’s Sea Turtle Festival Family Fun Day. The event will feature sea turtle themed games, live music, and activities for the entire family to enjoy. The usual admission rates apply for the Family Fun Day and visitors can save 15% by purchasing their tickets online in advance at www.turtle.ky.  Resident rates will also be available upon presentation of local ID at the box office.

The Cayman community is invited to show up and support the sea turtle conservation efforts.
