Pantone has announced their colour of the year for 2020: classic blue.

Reminiscent of the sky at dusk, the shade is a dusty dark blue. The vice president of Pantone’s Colour Institute called it “a colour that anticipates what’s going to come next”; an appropriate theme for the beginning of a new decade.

In the Caribbean, classic blue may remind us of the sea that surrounds our islands, or the darkening sky just before evening.

Here’s how you can incorporate this beautiful shade of blue into your 2020 wardrobe.

Accessorise Your Resolutions

If your 2020 resolutions include getting fit or travelling to new places, you’ll need a chic bag to carry all your gear.

Bring the colour of the year to the gym or plane by choosing a bag in classic blue, like this denim duffle bag.

Keep It Cute for Date Night

Wear your classic blue to date night in a cute crop top, or flirty jumpsuit with strappy heels.

Swim with It

When the shade of the year is so evocative of the ocean, why not take it for a swim?

Opt for a classic blue swimsuit this year; modest one-piece styles are still on trend for 2020.

Wear it to the Office

Colour coordinate your meeting outfit in classic blue for the perfect professional look.

Pair blue trousers with a matching blue blouse. If that’s too much blue-on-blue for you, try a blue midi skirt with a white blouse and classic blue accessories.

Go Bold with Makeup

The bold eyeliner beauty trend continues into early 2020.

Add a pop of colour to your makeup with classic blue eyeliner.

Welcoming a new year is about fresh starts and anticipating what’s to come. Freshen up your closet for 2020 with this beautiful shade.
