Cayman Carnival Batabano chair Donna Myrie-Stephen

Yello caught up with the Cayman Carnival Batabano chair Donna Myrie-Stephen who shared that, “I am very thrilled and excited to be presenting on behalf of the people of Cayman Islands Cayman Carnival Batabano for 2022. It certainly has been a two-year hiatus, so the island is full of expectation, and the energies are high…And we do have a Carnival Village this year that we’re excited about. It is the first one. But to go back to the Parade, we are really thankful to government, despite the late advice…that the ban on carnivals have been lifted. We are grateful and thankful.”

Myrie-Stephen also shared that there will be a multi-cultural talent showcase at this year’s Batabano with people from Santo Domingo, Cuba, Honduras, Jamaica set to participate.

It is the 39th staging of the event and the team of volunteers that organise the event are very excited for what is to come for the 40th anniversary in 2023.
