Current Conservation Efforts by the Cayman Turtle Centre

According to the Cayman Turtle Centre website: “Green Sea turtles are an important keystone species – critical to sustaining thriving marine ecosystems such as seagrass beds, promoting marine diversity…Overharvesting of eggs and non-discriminatory commercial fishing are also significant threats.”

The Centre also states that historically the Cayman Islands was home to over two million sea turtles.
