Bodden Town is the former capital of the Cayman Islands and today, is one of the largest districts in the territory.

The area features a natural harbour. It is named after a government leader, William Bodden.

Top Three Attractions in Bodden Town

Mission House

Mission House is a historical property in Bodden Town maintained by the National Trust for the Cayman Islands. It was initially built in the 1700s and is one of Cayman’s oldest buildings. It became known as the “Mission House” because of the early missionaries, teachers, and families who lived there while establishing a Presbyterian church and school in Bodden Town.

Currently, the site is a tourist attraction containing artefacts from the 1800s. There is also a gift shop on site. The site is open for tours Friday and Saturday, 10am-2pm. Tours are approximately 30-40 minutes long. Tours cost CI$10 for adults and CI$4 for children.

Bodden Town Art Shop

The Bodden Town Art Shop was established in 2008 and serves as an art gallery. It offers various locally produced artwork, crafts, jams, jellies, art supplies, and jewellery. It is centrally located, and a visit and purchase will ensure you get a unique Caymanian artwork or gift and support local artisans and artists.

Cayman Cigar Company

If you are aged 21 years or older, then a visit to the Cayman Cigar Company in Bodden Town should be on your must-see list. You can experience the finest premium cigars made from tobacco sourced from small farmers. And this is what makes Cayman Cigar Company unique, 100% of all net profits is donated to charity.
