The Cayman National Cultural Foundation presents Errol John’s Obie Award winning classic of Caribbean theatre, Moon on a Rainbow Shawl.

The production was directed and designed by the Foundation’s Artistic Director, Henry Muttoo. Of the play Muttoo shared: “Moon on a Rainbow Shawl is a powerful, entertaining theatrical experience that no audience member would regret seeing; I am sure of that. The level of ensemble playing is lyrical and seamless and has reached a level rarely seen in Cayman. I guarantee value for money and an experience you will long treasure.”

Plot

The residents of a tenement yard in Port of Spain, Trinidad navigate issues of social status, the ghosts of their past, and their hopes for the future.

Primary Cast and Characters

The cast of this character-driven production includes household names of the Caymanian theatre scene, and promising newcomers:

  • Marcia Muttoo as Sophia Adams, the spirited matriarch who works tirelessly to ensure the well-being of her family.

  • Swan Raudales as Rosa, an innocent young woman who was raised by nuns, and is pursued by both Ephraim and Old Mack.

  • Gisele Webb as Mavis, a prostitute who lives in the yard and is detested by Sophia.
