Eleanor Jo “EJ” Jarnigan-Bodden, originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, moved to Cayman in 1979. EJ then met and married Truman Bodden. Together they have two daughters, Dr Alexandra Bodden and Roberta Lee. EJ co-founded and owned Cayman Horizons Magazine, an inflight magazine of Cayman Airways.

EJ recently changed her field and has become a realtor with Coldwell Banker Cayman Islands Realty.

EJ enjoys all aspects of Cayman and participates in several clubs and charitable organisations around the island. She believes that it is important to give back, and to help others realise their dreams and goals.

This lady has a unique country-island style, always comfortable and classic. So whether you see her at Sunset House or Government House, she is always EJ.

Describe your style in one phrase:
Southern classic.

Where do you shop in Cayman?
Silhouette in Camana Bay. If you start with beautiful lingerie, everything fits better and you feel great.

What are your classic ‘must have’ items in your closet?
Long silk dresses that you can wear everywhere, from music festivals to a summer wedding. For travelling, I prefer a lightweight hoodie with boots and jeans. And in Cayman, you have to have a dozen bikinis for the beach, then cover-ups for boat trips.

Is there a particular style of clothing or jewellery you favour?
My favourite is Johnny Was. I also like Free People, David Yurman and Alexander McQueen has the most exotic styles.

If I looked in your closet now, what would I see?
One closet has the silks, satins and hats. The other closet has the boots, jeans and Pirate gear.

How would you describe your work attire?
Dresses and sandals.

How would you describe your evening/’heading out with the girls’ attire?
A swipe of red lipstick, a flirty top and whatever goes with red wine. Unless it’s football season, then I’ve got my colours on.

Do you prefer wearing flats or heels?
Sandals are great for day time, but after five, only heels.

What is your favourite lipstick? (Colour & Brand)
Cool Coral by Estee Lauder.

What perfume do you wear?
Pheromone by Marillyn Miglin or Joy by Jean Patou.

What is your hair care routine?
Wash and wear. We are constantly outdoors here in Cayman – at the beach, in the garden, at the gym – make it easy on yourself! (Diazepam)

What will we rarely catch you wearing?
Sleeves, they suffocate me. I can’t stand to wear anything fussy.

What is your fashion philosophy?
I dress with simple elegance. My mother said to me, “whatever you wear, be comfortable with yourself.” I wear what feels good.
