Nick “Zeenickster” O’Connor is a fashion icon and local to the Cayman Islands. He completed his bachelor’s degree at 20 years old, and is on the path to starting his own company. Where do you shop for clothes in Cayman?
If I’m shopping for clothes in Cayman it’s going to be at G’s and Gents @Gsandgents.cayman. I have a great relationship with the guys there when it comes to adding to my own personal wardrobe or being able to pull together looks for my different needs as a stylist.
If I want something couture then I go to @KroseCayman.
Describe your style in 3 words:
Minimalistic, eclectic, tailored and rule-breaking. See what I did there?
Who or what inspires you?
I think my biggest inspiration comes from the history of how my style was cultivated which is a story for another time. Other than that, sometimes music and moods give me ideas. Most importantly, this constant desire to be better than I am at any present time and to be an inspiration to others. No cliché intended.
What’s your favourite fashion accessory?
I don’t have one. I just ensure that my accessories are aesthetically pleasing. The point is to be intentional but never look like you’re trying. It’s pretty wavy when you think about it.
What would you wear for a night out?
I really don’t think about what I’m going to wear until I’m fresh out the shower, hair dripping, in my boxers and I walk into my closet. With those conditions, it’s whatever I feel in that moment with the full acceptance that what I wear may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
How would you describe your work attire?
I’ve been told that my work attire is considered eccentric, modern and classic, all at the same time.
What scent do you wear?
Funny enough I walked into a Rue 21 a few years back and sampled one of their cheap colognes called “Black”, I haven’t bought any other scent since.

What are your classic must-have items in your closet?
- A pair of Chelsea boots – most definitely.
- A fedora – but only if you have the confidence to pull it off.
- A well-tailored black suit – for when it’s time to suit up.
