Thousands of orchids will be on sale at the Annual Orchid Show at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March 2023. The orchid display will include orchids from the Cayman Islands Orchid Society members plants and orchids from the Botanic Park’s collection.

The Botanic Park is home to 10 of the 28 orchid species recorded from the Cayman Islands and includes four that are endemic to the islands.

The show runs from 9.30am to 4pm. Admission is CI$10 for adults and children aged six to 12 pay CI$5. Children under five enter for free.

The Cayman Islands Orchid Society’s president, Hazel Brown is excited about this partnership with the Botanic Park and shared:

“The Orchid Society is pleased to present the Annual Orchid Show in collaboration with our partner, the QE Botanic Park.  We invite all orchid enthusiasts, the curious, the intuitive and expert cultivators to join us in celebration of this very special and fascinating family of plants.

We look forward to a wonderful show, and the opportunity to share the joy of these special plants.”

And the Botanic Park’s general manager, John Lawrus, encourages visitors to enjoy a day at the park saying, “The Orchid Show is one of our annual events which is an opportunity for the public to come out and experience not only the myriad of orchids on display, purchase an orchid for themselves or as a gift, and also to enjoy the natural beauty of the flora and fauna of the Botanic Park.”

The Annual Orchid Show promotes the conservation of Cayman’s native orchids and is the biggest fundraiser for the Orchid Society and QEII Botanic Park.  There will be presentations on orchid care techniques for successfully growing orchids. Food and drink will also be available.
