Curaçao, Get Ready to Volunteer – CURA DOET is Here!
by Lou-Ann Jordan May 5, 2025

It’s that time of the year again when volunteers throughout the region unite. The annual CURA DOET takes place from 16 to 17 May 2025. One of the biggest regional volunteer initiatives, locally, it’s organised by the Cura Cares in collaboration with Oranje Foods.
At the two-day event, participants serve the community while having fun. Volunteers can register individually or with family members or friends for specific tasks. Similarly, schools or businesses interested in this community outreach can join a team to undertake a particular job. For those having trouble selecting a suitable assignment, the CURA DOET team are on hand to assist.
With 230 jobs listed, volunteers will have a cross-section of projects from which to choose. Some of the broad categories include social activities, cleaning, organising, painting, gardening, and decorating. The tasks within these categories are beach and recreation grounds clean-ups, gardening and painting at the zoo, renovations at the rescue centre, or swimming with seniors, and more.
What’s equally exciting about this programme is that it occurs throughout the Kingdom. As with previous instalments, the Netherlands, Aruba, Bonaire, St. Eustatius, Saba, and St. Maarten will run their campaigns simultaneously.
This May, it’s time to do as the American biochemist and cancer researcher Helen Marie Dyer once said: “Shape and mould the present into a future of which we can all be proud”. We can do this through volunteerism, a tangible way of voicing our care for others.
