American Helen Dyer is credited with the quote, “Volunteerism is the voice of the people put into action. These actions shape and mould the present into a future of which we can all be proud.” In 2023, over 4,700 Curaçaons raised their ‘voices’ by participating in the annual CURA DOET.

The CURA Doet joins Aruba, Bonaire, St. Eustatius, Saba, and St. Maarten in the region’s largest volunteering initiatives. Here in Curaçao, it is organised by Curaçao Cares in collaboration with Oranje Fonds. With it also occurring in the Netherlands, this year’s campaign will be held on 15 and 16 March 2024 throughout the kingdom.

Those who volunteer welcome the opportunity to serve and have fun while doing so. Families and friends register for jobs so that they can work alongside each other. Others who are unsure of what jobs would be most suitable are guided by Curaçao Cares. From giving neighbourhood youth centres or schools an uplift to enjoying recreational activities with seniors, there’s always something for everyone to do.

Are you interested in putting your voice into action this March? There are several fun jobs on the list waiting for would-be volunteers. You can visit the CURA DOET website to view the list of jobs and to register.
