Looking for adventure beyond the pristine white sand beaches? Plan your trip to Guyana and bask in the sights of the majestic Kaieteur Falls.

This natural wonder is located on the Potaro tributary of the Essequibo River in the iconic Kaieteur National Park. Kaieteur Falls is in the centre of Guyana’s rainforest.

The Kaieteur Falls are 226 metres high (five times higher than the famous Niagara Falls) and about 122 metres wide during the rainy season.

Kaieteur Falls was named after Old Kaie, a legendary elder of the Patomona nation. According Guyanese first peoples’ legends, the self-less Old Kaie, sacrificed himself to appease the Great Spirit Makonaima and save his people.

The falls are one of the most favourite destinations with tourists, with thousands of visitors annually.

There are frequent flights between the falls’ airstrip and Ogle Airport and Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Georgetown. The Kaieteur Airstrip is located at the National Park and is about a 15 minute walk from the top of the falls.
