Wear a moustache for charity!

Have you suddenly become aware that the guys around you are sporting a lot more facial hair than usual?  Let’s hope so as this probably means they are supporting “Movember”.

The Movember Foundation is a global charity committed to men living longer, happier and healthier lives.

Since 2003, the “No” in November has been replaced by the “Mo” for Moustache.

During the month of November, men are being encouraged to “Grow a Mo, save a Bro”, by literally growing a moustache (and a beard is totally acceptable too) while raising funds for men’s health.

According to the Movember Foundation, over the past 14 years since its inception, millions have joined the men’s health movement and raised over $710 million, which has been used to fund projects focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer and suicide prevention.

This isn’t a men only fund raising campaign, women can become “Mo Sistas” too.

Gaining popularity across the Caribbean, during the month of November you’ll see events taking place at pubs, hotel resorts, beauty salons, sports clubs, local men’s health organisations and local cancer societies.

You don’t personally have to grow a moustache. There are other options – you can wear a stick-on moustache, carry around a cardboard moustache for photo opportunities or wear “Mo Gear” in the form of t-shirts, pins and hoodies available online at the Movember Foundation.

Or simply motivate your friends or work colleagues to participate.
