Many of those who enjoy Valentine’s Day go all out on traditional ways to celebrate their love: flowers, chocolates, and fancy dinner dates or a weekend getaway.

Well, what happens when you’re a fan of Valentine’s Day but your budget won’t allow those splurges?

It’s time to get creative as a couple, and enjoy some less expensive, but just as wonderful ways of bonding and showing each other that you care.

Yes, being on a tight budget can be a pain, but it doesn’t mean you can’t have an amazing Valentine’s Day.

Here are eight ideas for budget-friendly Valentine’s activities you’re sure to enjoy.

1. Treasure hunt

Create a treasure hunt or scavenger hunt for each other around your home. Leave clues, notes, riddles, signs or you could even draw a map, to lead your significant other to a little hidden gift. You can gift your partner chocolates, a framed photo, a book, etc. Agree on a set budget for the gifts beforehand.

2. Plan a beach picnic

We’re blessed with beautiful beaches here in the Caribbean, so why not make the most of them for Valentine’s Day? Head to a beach with a picnic blanket and a basket of food you prepared at home. Each person should contribute a specialty item that you know your significant other will love.

3. Do Valentine’s breakfast or brunch

We often think about romantic dinner dates, but a breakfast or lunch date can be just as romantic. Breakfast, brunch, and lunch meals are generally cheaper than dinner menu offerings. Restaurants also often have excellent lunch specials that can help you save even more. You don’t have to sacrifice dining out for Valentine’s Day just because you’re on a budget, go out earlier.

4. Go for the sweet

Another money-saving dining out option is to go for dessert. Is there a restaurant with sweet treats you both enjoy? Have your main meal at home then head to the restaurant and flip straight to the dessert menu.

5. Have a games’ night

Sometimes we forget to play. Get in touch with your inner child and break out some board games. Plan a night with you and your partner’s favourite board, card, and video games. Hang out and enjoy without spending a cent.

6. Go deal hunting

Some restaurants, spas, and even hotels offer Valentine’s discounts or deals. In the lead up to Valentine’s Day, keep your eyes peeled for these offers. Make sure to sign up for coupon or discount sharing websites in your area.

7. Make things extra special

Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a celebration of love, and most people want some intimacy on the day. Make things extra special by treating each other to relaxing massages or fulfilling one of each other’s fantasies.

You can’t buy love, so don’t worry about blowing your tight budget for Valentine’s Day. Enjoy these budget-friendly Valentine’s ideas!
