The islands of the Caribbean aren’t known for great beers. We’re much more famous for our rums. That doesn’t mean though, that there aren’t any good brews made in the region.

If you’re a beer fan then these Caribbean brands are for you.

Red Stripe, Jamaica

Perhaps the most well-known beer produced in the Caribbean, Red Stripe is a Jamaican staple. It’s a full-bodied lager that can be found on international shelves.

Carib Beer, Trinidad and Tobago

This popular beer from Trinidad and Tobago can be found all over the region. It’s one of the oldest Caribbean beers and is a light-bodied, pale, fizzy lager.

Balashi, Aruba

Balashi beer is brewed in Oranjestad, Aruba’s capital. It’s made from Caribbean Sea water that has been desalinated. This pale brew was awarded the Gold Medal from the Monde Selection in Brussels in 2001.

Iron Shore Bock, Cayman

Unlike most beers in the Caribbean, Ironshore Bock is dark and strong. It also has a hefty 7% alcohol by volume ratio!

Turk’s Head, Turks and Caicos

Named after the Turk’s Head cactus, Turk’s Head beer is the official brew of the Turks and Caicos Islands. The light or amber ales go great with the country’s fresh seafood.

10 Saints, Barbados

10 Saints beer is left to mature in oak casks formerly used by Mount Gay to age its Special Reserve rum.

Kalik, Bahamas

Around half the beer sales in the Bahamas come from Kalik. This beer has been awarded three consecutive Gold Medals from Monde Selection in Brussels.

Kubuli, Dominica

This light, German-style lager takes its name from a shortened version of the Carib name for the island. It is made with natural spring water.

Piton Beer, St Lucia

The maize used to brew this beer comes from the island and gives Piton beer its unique flavour. The beer is named after the country’s famed Piton Mountains.
