Don’t worry, we’ve found five top attractions that are high up on the ‘must-do’ list and have to be seen on any trip to one of America’s most popular cities.
The world-famous building located in Manhattan should probably be top of your to-do list in NYC.
Offering 360-degree views of the City from the observatories on the 86th and 102nd floors there’s no better place to see exactly why New York is one of the most visited cities in the world.
You’ll see Central Park, the Hudson River, Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, The Statue of Liberty and more from the top of this iconic landmark – just don’t look down!
Gifted to the US from the people of France in 1886 as a sign of friendship, the Statute of Liberty is synonymous with NYC and must be seen to be believed.
Tickets should be bought in advance and offer patrons the chance to walk around the grounds, access the top of the statue’s pedestal or if you book at least six months in advance you may even be able to go up into Lady Liberty’s crown.
Ferry bookings also include access to the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration which provides a fascinating insight into the huge numbers of immigrants who’ve made the journey to make the United States their home.
Nearly as famous as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, Grand Central Station in midtown Manhattan is an iconic NYC landmark.
Opened to the public in February 1913, the Terminal is now more than just a transport hub, with 60 shops and 35 places to eat under its roof and a full calendar of events which include festivals, fairs and concerts.
Central Park is “full of attractions, from green meadows to sprawling waters, gardens and unique bridges, music and performance centres, educational facilities, classical architecture and more”.
You’ll need at least a day to explore all that the park has to offer but make sure you stop by Strawberry Fields, a 2.5-acre area built in tribute to former Beatle Sir John Lennon, and of course Central Park Zoo where you’ll meet snow leopards and Grizzly bears.
The backdrop for several Hollywood movies, Times Square, is the place to see and be seen in New York.
Nicknamed “the crossroads of the world’, the Square is fast, furious and frenetic and full of New Yorkers and tourists. It’s also the best place to buy Broadway tickets from the official source without a high markup and most theatres are just a short walk away.
If you’re looking for food, there are a plethora of dining options around including sushi, steak and street food or you can just find a seat at a coffee shop and watch the world go by.
