Some months can be slow, offering little in the form of entertainment. Then there are months when it’s bustling, and the list of fun things to do in Grenada seems endless.

During June, various activities will occur, some of which are annual while others are one-off events. The diverse range of activities ensures there is something for everyone. If your interests lie in the arts, aquatic activities, or social awareness, you’re guaranteed to have something to engage in your weekend.

Read on to see what fun activities and events June offers you and your family.

Dance

We begin the month with a dynamic competition featuring Grenadian dancers duking it out for bragging rights. For the second year in running, the Culture division of the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture will host Take it to “D” Streets.

The battle occurs on Friday, 2 June 2023, at 7pm in the Tanteen Playing Field. All are welcome, so bring your crew and support the dancers as they showcase their exceptional talent. There is a minimal entrance fee of $10EC (adults) and $5EC (children).

Cultural Extravaganza

For the past week, Gouyave has been buzzing with excitement. The people of St. John’s have been enjoying their annual Fisherman’s Birthday Celebrations.

Throughout June, there will be numerous land and aquatic activities such as dance and queen show competitions, a small business expo, a sports day, boat sailing and more. The highly anticipated relaunch of the Gouyave Fish Friday will also take place.

There’s unlikely to be a weekend in June when you’re in want of something fun to do, but if you are, then head to Gouyave because from 10-29 June, the parish will be abuzz. You can visit Gouyave Fisherman’s Birthday on Facebook to access detailed information on the various events.

Pageantry

Here’s an activity for your young ones, the Little Mr and Ms St. Paul’s pageant. It promises to be a fun family event as the contestants, ages six to 10, compete for the titles. The show, a charitable event, will be held on 24 June 2023 at the St. Paul’s Community Centre from 5pm. Tickets for adults and children are on sale for $30EC and $15EC, respectively.

Health Walk

Sunday, 25 June, brings this year’s School for the Deaf Grenada’s month of Deaf Awareness activities to a close. Moreover, what better way to end things than with an event in which the whole family can participate?

Grab the children, spouse or a friend and assemble with the other ‘walkers’ at 3:30pm in La Tante and end in La Sagesse. Don’t forget to wear your Deaf Awareness Month T-shirt and bandana. The total package costs $50EC. To purchase, you can contact 440-2242.
