Get Ready to Hit the High Seas. It’s Grenada Sailing Week 2023

It’s one of the most highly anticipated aquatic events in the region, and certainly here in Grenada. The annual Pure Grenada Sailing Week (GSW) is one of several marine activities that take place here on the Spice Isle. 

Usually, the Regatta begins at the Port Louis Marina in St. George and local and visiting skippers traverse Grenada’s scenic waterways. Seafarers jib and tack across the Caribbean Sea enjoying breathtaking vistas as they go. This year, the nautical pursuits will begin in Carriacou on Sunday, 29 January and end Friday, 3 February.   

As is the custom, local and visiting participants from around the globe will be treated to an exciting time sailing. Here’s a look at GSW 2023 activities:

29 January 2023

Welcome to GSW 2022 Regatta at Carriacou Marine

  • Final registration for all participants.
  • CSA boat measuring.
  • Skippers’ briefing.
  • A welcome event at the Original Slipway Restaurant.

30 January 2022

Day One – The Island Waterworld Race Day (from Carriacou to Grenada)

  • Main fleet racing. The first warning is at 9.55 am (The race begins and finishes at Tyrell Bay).
  • Award of prizes for the day’s racing at Paradise Beach.

31 January 2023

Day Two – The Sea Hawk Race (from Carriacou to Grenada)

  • Main fleet racing. The first warning is at 9.55 am (The race begins at Tyrell Bay and finishes at La Phare Bleu Marina).
  • Award of prizes for the day’s racing at Island Fever Tropical Tavern.

1 February  2023

Lay Day

2 February  2023

Day Three – The Mount Gay Race (Grenada)

  • Main fleet racing. The first warning is at 8.55 am (The race begins at Prickly Bay and finishes at Grand Anse).  
  • Award of prizes for the day’s racing at Grenada Yacht Club.

3 February  2023

Day Four – SOL/Netherlands Insurance Race (Grenada)

  • Main fleet racing. The first warning is at 8.55 am (The race begins at Prickly Bay and finishes at Grand Anse). 
  • Award of prizes for the day’s racing at Victory Bar.
  • Final awarding of regatta prizes.
