Grenada Turns 50: A Look at Events in February
by Lou-Ann Jordan Feb 1, 2024
It’s always an excellent time to be in Grenada, but this February will be unlike any other. Since last October’s launch, the 50th Anniversary of Independence has remained prominent in our minds. At the start of the year, activities steadily increased, and with them, our excitement.
January was busy with events such as the unveiling of the Caricom roundabout, the youth summit, and the 50th Independence Historic and Art Exhibition. Those of us who love a good kaiso enjoyed the opportunity granted by the Independence Calypso Monarch competition. There was something for everyone, especially with events like the Round the Island flag relay, parish sports, and the gospel concert!
Well, we’re not through yet. In addition to the mega celebrations scheduled for Independence Day, other outlying events will occur this February. There are things to do before Independence Day and planned for the days following.
