In the town of Gouyave, June is synonymous with Fisherman’s Birthday Celebrations.

The fishing town’s annual event is done in honour of the patron saint of fishermen, St. Peter.

This year’s festivities will take place from the 15-29 June with a host of activities to enjoy.

While Gouyave is famous for its weekly fish Friday, this month there are additional reasons to take a drive to the parish of St. John.

Here’s a line-up of the month’s events:

Saturday 15 June: Jump into the celebrations with the Hash and Jetty lime.

Sunday 16 June: It’s Retired Fisherfolks Appreciation Day!  Also, the Spices Dance Company Father’s Day show will take place.

Friday 21 June: Be there for Fish Friday and the official launch of the celebrations.

Saturday 22 June:  Don’t miss the Bonfire and Culture night as it’s sure to be memorable.

Sunday 23 June:  Join the people of Gouyave and take care of your wellbeing. Be a part of the Health Walk.

Monday 24 June:  It’s the third instalment of “Lift Every Voice” Gospel Night.

Tuesday 25 June: Here’s an opportunity for the entire community to get involved—Gouyave Improvement Committee (GIC) Community Empowerment Fair.

Wednesday 26 June: You can’t afford to miss the Come Taste We Hand and Pan Fiesta/Night Market Schools Pan Festival and Live Band.

Friday 28 June: Get ready to see some of your favourite Carnival characters.  It’s the beginning of Gouyave Regatta Mas in June.

Saturday 29 June: The day offers a couple of activities for all.  There are the holy mass and procession.  Also, the regatta and beach event continues.  There will also be fish, craft and Agro exhibitions.  The 2019 celebrations will culminate in a street fiesta.
