Get Ready to See Live Events Across the Island for Reggae Month 2023
by Carolyn Lee Feb 1, 2023

It’s Reggae Month 2023, and if you love live events, you are in for a treat. On 29 January, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports Olivia Grange announced that fans would see live events across the country for February.
This year’s Reggae Month celebrations include tributes to Reggae icons plus many new and existing entertaining and educational events. Also, the Reggae Gold Awards will acknowledge several artistes for their contributions to our music and brand Jamaica.
There will be the weekly JARIA Wednesdays, tributes to Dennis Brown (on 1 February) and Bob Marley (on 6 February), the Reggae University series, and performances (the Children of the Icons and Emerging Artistes series).
On Thursday 2 February, patrons can enjoy the smooth melodies of legendary reggae artiste Sanchez live on stage at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre. Dubbed the “One in a Million You” show, the event starts at 8pm, and Sanchez will perform some of his biggest hits.

In January 2008, February was officially declared Reggae Month by the Jamaican Government. The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) typically collaborate on Reggae Month events.
Since its inception, thousands of tourists have travelled to the island each year, helping to boost the economy, while celebrating Jamaica’s vibrant musical accomplishments.

We love that live events are back and hope everyone attending the shows will enjoy the celebrations. Keep safe, everyone!
