Vacations have been planned, lights and decorations are filling the stores, and wish lists have been made: Christmas is just around the corner.
If you’re looking for unique gifts for your loved ones, then it’s a perfect time to explore local brands and artisans. Shopping at Christmas markets and trade shows is a great way to support local small businesses and to pick up some amazing gifts.
Here are some of the markets and shopping events that will be happening in the lead up to Christmas.
A Jamaican Made Christmas (30 November – 1 December)
From home décor, lifestyle products, art, food, books, and more, A Jamaican Made Christmas is sure to have something gift-worthy.
The two-day showcase of local artisans and manufacturers, hosted by National Bakery, will be held at the AC Hotel in Kingston.
This Christmas marketplace kicks off at 10am and goes until 8pm. For the $1200 admission fee, you will receive two $500 vouchers redeemable at any exhibitor booth and one reusable shopping tote. Children under 12 enter for free.
Conu’Co Market (15 December)
Conu’Co Market at the Cove is held periodically throughout the year at the Grizzly Plantation in Priory, St Ann. The market will be back just in time for holiday gift shopping on 15 December.
At Conu’Co Market, you’ll find everything from skincare, stationery, and jewellery, to art, candles, and delicious food. The market gets underway at 10am running until 6pm and is free to enter.
Kingston Night Market (Every Tuesday)
Kingston Night Market is held every Tuesday on Hillcrest Avenue in Kingston, which means you’ll have many chances to stop by and check out the unique offerings.
Kingston Night Market hosts vendors of all types, showcasing a collection of everything from beauty and wellness to food, art, jewellery, and even crystals.
Some vendors attend the market every week, while others pop in from time to time. Keep an eye on the market’s social media pages for a weekly list of vendors.
Live music and performances are also part of this weekly night market.
Suga Lifestyle Christmas Connection (15 December)
Suga Lifestyle Christmas Connection is named after the Suga Lifestyle blog that hosts the event. This Christmas trade show will be held at The Jamaica Pegasus on 15 December. Suga Lifestyle’s Christmas Connection will feature local artisans of all sorts. You’ll be able to pick up gifts, or treats for yourself, from producers of art, woodcraft, ceramics, fashion, and more. Admission is free.
