Some popular events returning to the spotlight this summer include Carnival in Jamaica, Reggae Sumfest 2022, Dream Weekend, and Jamaica 60 Independence Celebrations, among others. So, if you are looking for music, food, or family events, we’ve got a few you can add to your calendar now!

Carnival in Jamaica – Kingston, Ocho Rios, and St Thomas

Carnival is one of Jamaica’s most significant cultural celebrations. Events for Carnival in Jamaica started on 24 June and will culminate on 16 July 2022. If you’ve missed out on J’ouvert or the road parade in Kingston and Ocho Rios, there is still an opportunity to join the fun on 16 July 2022 for Carnival in St Thomas.

Reggae Sumfest 2022 – Montego Bay

Reggae Sumfest started in 1993 and has grown into Jamaica’s largest summer reggae festival. The event is held for over a week and features a series of events that include a free street dance (18 July), Blitz (20 July), All White (19 July), and Global Sound Clash (21 July). The main festival nights take place on 22 and 23 July, with an impressive lineup featuring Beres Hammond, Spice, Sizzla, Shenseea, Koffee, Dexta Daps, Aidonia, and Ding Dong, among others. Tickets for Reggae Sumfest are currently on sale on their official website and all outlets (Fontana, H&L Stores, El Paso Records, and Pier 1).

Dream Weekend – Negril

Dream Weekend is more than a party weekend; it’s an experience that creates memories that last a lifetime. As a signature event for partygoers in Jamaica, the annual weekend-long getaway is an international music festival that takes in Negril during Jamaica’s Independence holidays. This year’s activities take place from 29 July to 1 August 2022. Season and individual tickets for the Dream Weekend parties are available on their website. You can also book a hotel on Negril’s Hip Strip via the site. 

Jamaica 60 Independence Celebrations

This year, Jamaica celebrates 60 years of independence. Some of the exciting events planned for the celebrations include the Emancipation Day Festival Queen Coronation (1 August), Jamaica 60 Film Festival (2 August), Mello-Go-Roun (3 August), Jamaica Gospel Star Finals (4 August), Jamaica Festival Songs with the Stars (5 August), and the Independence Grand Gala (6 August). The Jamaica 60 Festival Village Venue is at the Independence Park, inside the National Stadium. Mello-Go-Roun and Mini Mello-Go-Roun are in Montego Bay. The events will expose Jamaica’s creative industry talents and promote cultural pride.
