This February Head to Carriacou for Kayak Mas 2023
by Lou-Ann Jordan Feb 6, 2023

When is it a good time to visit the Caribbean? Most would say anytime, and they would be right! Each year it varies, as some of our annual festivals, like Carnival, may shift.
This year, February proves to be an exciting month with several carnival festivals taking place in Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire and Trinidad and Tobago. Each is unique offering visitors a glimpse into distinct cultures and traditions.
Here in the tri-island state of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, many think us fortunate as we celebrate two carnivals. There’s Kayak Mas earlier in the year, and then just when we need a break, there’s one held in August on the mainland.
Typically, Carriacou’s annual Carnival sees many descending on the small island, in search of a good time in a safe environment. Also, although it maintains the customary soca and calypso competitions, its Shakespeare event adds a touch of the traditional. Kayak Mas is truly a memorable experience!
Here’s a list of the schedule of events supplied by the Carriacou and Petite Martinique Carnival Committee.
