Three Crucial Tips to Help Declutter Your Life
by Carolyn Lee Mar 3, 2025

Spring is a time of renewal that allows us to cleanse, refresh, rejuvenate, and transform. Many focus on home decluttering activities, which can help make their living spaces more comfortable and functional. However, some might do a life audit to assess physical, mental, and spiritual clutter. If you plan to do a ‘life’ spring cleaning, these tips might help.
Tips to declutter or reframe your life.
Declutter your physical space.
Clutter can create feelings of anxiety, stress, and a lack of control. Decluttering your physical space can improve your mood, sleep, and concentration. Spring clean around the home, office, and other frequently used areas to add more ease, comfort, and functionality. After, you can focus on achieving different goals.
Try doing a mental spring cleaning.
We consume a lot of data from social media that can add to mental clutter. Although social media can be educational, inspiring, and entertaining, following some accounts can cause anxiety or stress. Do a social media purge and unfollow accounts that don’t empower you. Focus on accounts relevant to your development or goals you want to achieve.
You can digitally purge your computer, online files, hard drives, phone apps, email subscriptions, and other storage devices to remove what you no longer need. A digital detox lets you know where to find items, helps you organise what you need, and allows you to back up crucial information.
Focusing on what you can’t control, relying on external validation, and obsessing over past mistakes also creates mental clutter. To combat this, identify self-doubt, release self-criticism, practise self-kindness, and exercise awareness. Journalling can help organise your thoughts, and mindfulness activities can reframe negative self-talk.
Vibrate higher.
A low-energetic state involves feeling worried, sad, disappointed, or unhappy, leading to dissatisfaction or depressive moods. You can combat this by practising gratitude, learning new things, and developing habits aligning with your goals. Other ways include enjoying your company, spending time in nature, and listening to uplifting media (music, podcasts, or frequencies).
To recap:
- Physically decluttering your space can encourage mental clarity, enhance your mood, and shift your focus to accomplishing other goals.
- Mental decluttering allows you to pay attention to negative self-talk and self-sabotaging habits by shifting your focus to improving how you see yourself.
- A low-energetic state can make you feel unaccomplished and burdened by old, untrue life stories. When you focus on what you love and what brings you joy, you can vibrate higher and create new, inspiring stories.
