Bold is the keyword when it comes to 2019’s spring and summer fashion. Last year’s minimalism is a thing of the past; fashion houses are embracing bright colours, print, and playful details.

Read on for the runway trends that are making their way into streetwear this season.

Tie-Dye

Tie-dye made a comeback on the runways of Prabal Gurung, Dior, and Stella McCartney. Designers made over-saturated 1960s pastels relevant again by pairing them with more contemporary styles like distressed denim and tailored dresses. The print has made its way onto every type of clothing, from t-shirts and scarves to blazers and silk skirts.

Chunky Sneakers

The chunky sneakers trend arguably started on the Balenciaga fall/winter 2017 runway, and it isn’t going anywhere soon. These kicks are a funky cross between sneakers, hiking boots and platforms. You can love them or hate them, but they’re certainly trendy – they have been worn by celebrities including Rihanna, Bella Hadid and Chance the Rapper.

Lace Details

Lace details are appearing everywhere, from skirt hems to collars and sleeves. The style made the cut at Victoria Beckham, Christopher Kane and Burberry’s runway shows amongst others. Add it to menswear-inspired clothing for a soft, feminine touch.

Bucket Hats

1990s urban-wear is having a moment in fashion right now. Bucket hats are making their way from fall and winter fashion into spring and summer. Thank goodness for it – they’re the perfect way to shield your skin and look stylish while you do it!

Big Shoulders

If it sounds like all the previous decades are making a comeback, that’s because they are. The 1980s return with romantic, puffy shoulders on daytime dresses and crop tops. Pair the look with otherwise clean lines to avoid going overboard.

Fringe

Add a playful swish to your outfit with some fringe. The look was showcased on the runways of Tom Ford, Gucci and Missoni who added it to capes, skirts and shoes alike. With this look, it’s all about drawing attention and embracing fun.

So, which spring and summer trend will make its way into your wardrobe?
