The St. Patrick Festival 40th Anniversary is Here! Let’s Celebrate
by Lou-Ann Jordan Mar 7, 2022
It’s March, and we’re ready to revel!
The 2022 St. Patrick’s Festival is almost upon us, and we anticipate it will be a grand celebration, especially as it’s the 40th Anniversary. With its start in the 80s, these annual festivities represent a merging of our dichotomised European and African ancestry. Over the years, by maintaining our traditions, our culture has gained global recognition and appreciation.
In our 40th year, we will continue our tradition of a week of merriment. From 12 – 19 March, locals and visitors can expect regular events like the National Honours and Awards, a return of favourites like the Junior Calypso Competition and new additions like the Social Media Fashion contest. As we’ve seen over the past two years, the festival will once again feature a combination of virtual and face-to-face events.
Additionally, the schedule features several privately hosted events you’re guaranteed to enjoy. Of course, there will be plenty of opportunities to partake in the delicious local cuisine, dance to traditional music and sit back and experience our remarkable local talent.
National COVID-19 protocols will be in effect, so come out or log on and join the 2022 St. Patrick’s Festival revelry.
