It’s Time to Hit the Narrows: The 2023 Nevis to St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim
by Lou-Ann Jordan Mar 6, 2023

It’s that time again. Let’s hit the Narrows with the 2023 Nevis to St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim!
Organised by the SKN Swimming Federation, the Cross Channel Swim is one of many endeavours born out of the tragedy that occurred over 50 years ago. In honour of the lives lost during the MV Christena disaster, the Federation continues to raise awareness of the importance of swimming by creating opportunities for locals to regularly engage in swimming activities. Hence, the motivation behind initiatives like Swim to Win and Gifting Goggles.
In addition to those, there is also the annual Cross Channel Swim which involves swimmers taking to open water and crossing the Narrows. It’s one of the Federation’s most highly anticipated annual events. Every year, locals and visitors take to the seas displaying fortitude and skill.
This March, the St. Kitts and Nevis Cross-Channel Swim will take place on Saturday 26 at 8am. The swimmers will head into open water from Nevis, making their way across the 2.5-mile (4.1-kilometre) passage to St. Kitts. As is customary, the “Gifting Goggles” initiative, a campaign to outfit youths learning to swim with proper eyewear, will run in tandem. Participants are invited to donate goggles.
Join open water swimmers for an exhilarating challenge or to cheer them on. It’s definitely a family event!
