Should You Take A Vacation Abroad, Staycation or Both

You have time off from work!

For those of us who’ve been feeling a little burnt out lately, time off from work is cause for a celebration. We get to sleep in late or stay up longer, but some of us start focusing on things we need to do.

So, let’s set some ground rules.

  1. Time off from work is designated for you to rest, have fun, and take care of yourself.
  2. Even if you love what you do (work), there are other things and people who need your love.
  3. You are getting time off work because you must unplug at times, to stay healthy.

We know that for many enterprising people, it’s hard to switch out of work mode. Yet, our mental health and overall wellbeing demand it. So, we’d like to recommend that when you start focusing on what to do, center it on either a vacation, staycation, or both!

Should you go on vacation abroad?

A vacation abroad has many benefits. It allows you to reconnect with people in places you’ve visited before. You can discover some of the places you overlooked previously, and search for foods you enjoyed the last time. If you’re travelling to a new destination, each experience allows you to create new memories. Also, there’s awesome shopping, theatre shows, museums, meeting new people and stunning architecture!

Hence, with proper planning, budgeting, and making the most of each moment, travelling abroad can give you memories to last a lifetime. So, if you have time off work and it’s two weeks or more, create your bucket list of places to visit, and if you already have a list, start researching the next place you want to visit.

Benefits of a staycation

When you live in paradise, it’s easy to vacation where you live. A staycation is affordable, and you don’t have to worry about visa fees, delayed flights, or long lines for check-in. We have some of the best hotels, resorts and guest houses in the world, endless beaches, waterfalls, and rivers. Our museums hold records of our diverse history, and it’s always nice to make friends with our countrymen in other areas. Let’s not forget that our cuisine is mouthwatering good, and the fact that we won’t need to cook it ourselves, makes it even better! We have a few hotels and resorts that we’d love to visit, but we’ll let you decide which you prefer.

How to enjoy a vacation abroad and a staycation

If you’ve got two or more weeks of vacation, why not make the most of it? You can allot some days for travelling abroad and the rest for enjoying a mini staycation at home. The choice of what to do first (vacation or staycation) is totally up to you. We suggest that you do a proper budget that includes costs for overseas travel, a staycation, and related expenses. Factor in visa fees, accommodations, flight delays, and miscellaneous expenses. Meticulously plan what you want to do, and the possible expense attached to it. Leave a day or two to recuperate, so you have time to rest before returning to work.

Whatever you decide to do, ensure that you budget time for rest. If you need help finding travel agents, guesthouses, hotels, or resorts, our Find Yello listings can help. Just type what you need in our search bar and let your fingers do the walking!
