Best Beaches in the Caribbean: Antigua and Barbuda’s Valley Church Beach
by Karen Rollins Nov 6, 2023

Antigua’s Valley Church Beach is located just south of Jolly Harbour on the island’s west coast.
This serene shore offers a quiet getaway compared to the noise and crowds from the nearby casino and restaurants.
The turquoise blue water of Lignum Vitae Bay is calm, although not completely clear, but the sand is ideal for lounging on hired beach chairs with a book and a drink from the nearby bar called ‘The Nest’, which also sells Antiguan food.
Once you get in the water be aware that there is a large drop off which can make it slightly harder to get out. Jet skis and other watercraft can be hired.
If you want anything else while at the beach there are local vendors nearby offering snacks and souvenirs. Toilets, changing rooms, and showers are also available to the public.
Although the beach is relatively quiet it is located less than a 30-minute drive southwest of the cruise port which means it does attract a fair amount of cruise ship passengers every day between 11am and 3pm. If you want the place to yourself, you should schedule your visit for before or after these times to avoid the rush.
