A TCI Christmas: Events to Look Forward to During the Festive Season
by Karen Rollins Dec 4, 2023
Christmas in the Turks and Caicos Islands is extra special. Along with the sunny weather, there is a welcoming atmosphere, as locals and tourists prepare to celebrate the holidays with their family and friends.
Several hotels and resorts put up beautiful lights and decorations and stunning Christmas trees, which add to the festive spirit, and there are usually plenty of seasonal activities and parties going on.
Here are some Christmas events you can look forward to in TCI.
Maskanoo Parade on Boxing Day
The Maskanoo Parade takes place in Providenciales every year on 26 December. This tradition was inspired by the rituals enslaved Africans brought to the islands and now serves as a celebration of TCI’s rich, cultural history.
The parade features bright costumes, sequined masks, and the rhythmic sound of drums. There is also local food and arts and crafts on sale. Smaller celebrations are held in Grand Turk and Middle Caicos as well.
Post-Christmas party on Grace Beach
On 28 December everyone is invited to a post-Christmas party at Grace Bay Beach. This annual gathering usually includes various water-based activities such as kayak racing, along with live music and plenty of food. The atmosphere is friendly, safe, and welcoming.
New Year’s Eve at Grace Bay
See in the New Year at The Flamingo Café (aka Rickie’s) on Grace Bay with food and drink and a huge beachside bonfire. Dance the night away to tunes from a local DJ, before counting down to midnight, when fireworks go off all along Grace Bay Beach.
