Christmas in TCI

Christmas in the Turks and Caicos Islands is a special time of year.

Along with the warm weather, there is a warm atmosphere, as people prepare to celebrate with their family and friends.

Many hotels and resorts put up spectacular Christmas trees along with Christmas lights and decorations which add to the spirit of the season. Here are some events you can look forward to in TCI over the Christmas holidays.

Maskanoo Parade on Boxing Day

The Maskanoo Parade takes place in Providenciales annually. This tradition was inspired by the rituals enslaved Africans brought to the islands and now serves as a celebration of the island’s rich, cultural history.

The parade features bright costumes, sequined masks, and the rhythmic sound of drums. There is also local food and arts and crafts on sale. Smaller celebrations are held in Grand Turk and Middle Caicos as well.

Post-Christmas party on Grace Beach

On 28 December everyone is invited to a post-Christmas party at Grace Beach. This annual event usually includes various water-based activities, including kayak racing, along with live music and plenty of food. The atmosphere is relaxed, safe, and welcoming.

New Year’s Eve at Grace Bay

See in the New Year at The Flamingo Café (aka Rickie’s) on Grace Bay with a huge beachside bonfire, along with food and drink. Dance the night away to tunes from a local DJ, before counting down to midnight, when fireworks go off all along Grace Bay Beach.
