The Turks and Caicos Kite Flying Competition is an annual tradition which has been going for 30 years. It is held over the extended Easter weekend.

Organised by the Turks and Caicos Islands Tourist Board with help from islanders, the event usually takes place at four locations – Bight Beach Children’s Park on Providenciales, Horse Stable Beach on North Caicos, Governor’s Beach on Grand Turks, and Regatta Village on South Caicos.

According to the tourist board’s website, the kite flying event is “designed to promote friendly community competition, fostering goodwill and community spirit.”

Kite flyers taking part in the competition can win all kinds of prizes. Some of the categories include smallest or largest kite, most artistic kite, best traditional kite, and best company kite.

Spectators can also join in the fun and enjoy a range of other activities such as an Easter egg hunt, face painting, bouncy castles, children’s games, clowns, and music. Food and drink will also be on sale.
